Signs?
Oh, sure, there were signs.
There were signs.
There were signs all along the way.

Some were pine, simple, hand-made.
Easy enough to turn your head away.
Some were metal, etched, revealed.
Easy enough to keep your eyes concealed.
Some were neon, flashing, and a mile high.
Easy enough to shrug and sigh.

And many when the cancer killed
Felt their worst fears stilled
They had not been victim; not right away
And so it seemed it well might stay that way.
But no-one’s safe in criminality’s dictator$hit
Death’s the very goal of that dark and dangerous pit.
Self-hating, race-baiting, inflating orange clown
Claims a golden glowing crumbling crown.

“If only we had known…”
But there were signs.
There were signs.
There were signs all along the way.
